LOCALIZATION
-The Riansares is born in Vellisca, province of Cuenca and flows into the Laguna de Taray in the Gigüela river, southeast of the province of Toledo.



-The Riansares river is located in central Spain, the main tributary of the Giguela river, and one of the springs of the Guadiana river that runs through Castilla la Mancha. This river is 99.26km long and drains a 1,501 square kilometer basin.

INFORMATION

-Its principal is the Bedija river. This river joins the Riansares in the municipality of Horcajo de Santiago (Cuenca province).


FLOW
-This river is of small and irregular flow, with a strong low water in the summer season. So it remains dry during years of poor rainfal. Its most important flow can be observed during the wettest time of the year, in the central area of the Iberian Peninsula. 

-Its flow pass through a territory of La Mancha populated with crops where the vine and the olive tree stand out. In addition there are also vegetables garden, farming crops, which suggest the existence of an important undergrounf flow. On the other hand, it also has a fertile plain. 


WILDLIFE

-Regarding its fauna, in this river at the time og greatest flow, the especies is observed is Anas platyrhhyncos (common duck).



CURIOSITIES

-As for some of its curiosities, the origin of its name stands out from the river, which is used as a woman´s name in Tarancon (Cuenca) and is the name of the Virgin of Riansares, patron saint of Tarancon.
